Art Scholarship

Gustavus Adolphus College believes that art is an integral component of a liberal arts education. Through intensive studio art and a vigorous engagement with art history, students are encouraged to develop the creativity, knowledge, and skills necessary for perceptive, expressive interpretations of life. The Department of Art and Art History is committed to the liberal arts ideals and includes both majors and non-majors in classes and exhibits. The Art Scholarship rewards accomplishments in the visual arts and the potential for continued growth.

The scholarships, ranging from $500 - $2,000 annually, recognize students with demonstrated talent and commitment to the field of art. Renewal of the scholarship requires participation within and review by the Department of Art and Art History, including taking one course per year in the department and maintaining a 3.0 in those courses.
Candidates must submit an application for admission to Gustavus Adolphus College and complete the Gustavus Art Scholarship application. Students do not need to major within the department to qualify.

Rolling Admission applicants who are scholarship finalists will be invited to campus for a portfolio review with art faculty and students on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
